Breastfeeding 101, a support course for breastfeeding mothers, starts November 1 – archyde

Learn about the benefits of being a breastfeeding mom and how to successfully return to campus as a breastfeeding mom. Also learn about Illinois Breastfeeding Laws and Illinois State University Breastfeeding Policy.

Promotion of health and well-being has joined the Bloomington Normal Birth Center by having Trish Wierenga, a Certified Lactation Consultant, introduce and educate participants about breastfeeding. Two support classes for breastfeeding mothers have been created to help you: Breastfeeding 101 and Return to work or school.

Breastfeeding 101 introduces participants to the benefits of breastfeeding for the baby, mother, and family along with information on breastfeeding techniques, the role of expression, and information on Illinois breastfeeding laws and Illinois State University politics.

Back to work or school explores how to successfully return to school or work as a breastfeeding mother. This course covers lactation spaces on campus, the importance of expressing schedules, and a guide to facilitating conversations with your supervisor and colleagues.

These courses are free for faculty, staff and spouses/partners, but registration is required.

Time: 12:20 p.m. to 1:20 p.m.

Location: 186 McCormick Room
