Gothenburg Health now has two certified lactation consultants who support families before, during and after childbirth. Dani Gilligan and Sarah Dea offer clinical breastfeeding advice and management support to families who are interested in breastfeeding and lactation, who have questions or who are having problems with it.
They work with Dr. Anna Dalrymple and Dr. Kayla Knauss to offer free childbirth classes throughout the year. At a course held last month, participants learned essential tools for the birthing experience and understood what to expect once families arrived home with their new little ones.
For many years, Dea has been interested in breastfeeding and postpartum care has always been a passion for her. She joined Gothenburg Health in January 2021 working with the Maternal Fetal Medicine specialist who visits the specialist clinic monthly. When she saw the need for someone to help Gilligan, who has been a CLC since 2019, she completed 52 hours of training and passed the exam to receive her certification in May.
