Lactation education

Help Ashley become a certified lactation consultant

As many of you know, for the past year I have worked with a non-profit organization here in San Antonio that works to reduce child abuse and neglect through access to resources and free education for families.

When I started my birthing journey 7 years ago, I planned to become an IBCLC. As a mother of a newborn, that goal has been set for another season of life.

After breastfeeding for 4 years, encountering every possible challenge, helping many families on their breastfeeding journey, and working closely with amazing lactation consultants, I decided the season was right to continue pursuing my Goals.

The organization I used for my birth and postpartum doula certifications offers a comprehensive certified lactation counselor training that would be the first step on a journey to IBCLC status. The course is $900. Traditional Pell grants and college funding do not extend to this type of training.

Please help me achieve this goal. After training, the process involved hours of observation under the supervision of a mentor and then taking an exam.
