(WTVO) – A woman on a Delta Airlines flight reportedly began nursing her cat during the flight and refused to stop when confronted by crew.
According to Newsweekthe incident happened on a flight from Syracuse, New York to Atlanta, Georgia.
A now viral post on social media shows a screenshot of an ACARS (Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System) message from the pilot on the ground, which reads “Req. Redcoat meets AC Pax (passenger) at (seat) 13A breastfeeds a cat and will not put the cat back in its crate when asked by FA (stewardess).
The Red Coats are “elite airport customer service experts,” according to Delta, who was asked to meet the woman once the plane landed.
Flight attendant Ainsley Elizabeth, who was reportedly on the flight, added on TikTok on Nov. 13: “This woman had one of those hairless cats swaddled in a blanket so he looked like a baby. Her shirt was up and she was trying to get the cat to the breast and she didn’t want to put the cat back in the carrier. And the cat was screaming for its life.
Delta allows passengers to bring small dogs and cats as “emotional support animals” into the cabin during a flight, but they must remain in a carrier under the front seat during the entire flight.
Delta says it has seen passengers interpret “emotional supportto mean “comforting turkeys, golden opossums…snakes, spiders, etc.” ” over the years.
