The National Breastfeeding Coordinating Unit within the Directorate of Women’s Health has developed a book on nursing entitled “Breastfeeding and Beyond: A Guide to Infant and Child Feeding”. the child”, which will be distributed free of charge to pregnant women in the antenatal clinics of public health establishments.
The national representative of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), Dr. Erica Wheeler, presented these books on behalf of the association which provided technical and financial support for this publication.
Minister of Health Terrence Deyalsingh and National Breastfeeding Coordinating Unit Lead Debra Thomas was present for the handover ceremony which took place on December 9, 2021.

Minister Deyalsingh also took the opportunity to present Dr. Wheeler with a copy of the Trinidad and Tobago’s first National Breastfeeding Policy, a die first such policies in the Caribbean region.
These activities are carried out in support of the Baby-Friendly Hospitals initiative as the ministry continues to work towards providing mother- and baby-friendly care in all hospitals.
